| Farncombe Publishing grew out of Judy Farncombe's dream of bringing good design practice into the world of websites. So often you look at a site on the web and you know that the person who designed it had no art or graphics training at a professional level. Judy studied Fine Art (Printmaking) at Kingston University in the 1970s, leaving with a second class Honours degree. On leaving art college she walked into a graphic design job at Golf International UK. She worked as the designer on that magazine for a year, then went on to work as Art Editor at Forum UK for a further year. Family commitments meant a break from graphic work. Later, she went on to work in the Information Industry in various guises, learning to use computer software and graphics and to teach these skills to students in the 16 to 19-year-old bracket planning for the day when she could use her creative skills once more. During that time she qualified in a number of subjects - a Postgraduate Diploma in Library & Information Studies, became an Member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (MCILIP), and qualified as a Teacher & Trainer in Information Technology (TTAIT). When she had enough money and time to create Farncombe Publishing she did so, it was a chance to make a dream become a reality. Farncombe Publishing is Judy Farncombe, she also has a network of skilled associates who involve themselves in projects under the Farncombe Publishing banner. They range from the superior computer graphics skills of Nan Christopher of Nashville, Tennessee, to the Java Script and other computer coding skills of Matt Ing and Martin Farncombe. Martin also advises on the editorial content of the projects. Tamsin Stanton is the financial advisor and, in time, will become the company accountant. |
